Located in Big Bear City, between San Diego and Los Angeles, the store bills itself as a ‘full service art, craft, and sewing center,” and it’s easy to get lost within its rambling center.
The store itself is a multi-roomed treasure chest of yarn, needles, patterns, notions, and much more. Whether you are looking for craft or luxury yarn, you will find it here; it seems that everywhere one looks, there’s a type of yarn that’s unusual, revered, or both! A recent visit discovered lines and colorways from such luminaries as Louisa Harding, Queensland, Knit Picks, Aunt Lydia’s Crochet Thread, and Knit Collage. In addition, designer and manager Gena Hester dyes her own yarn, also available in-store.
Looking for pattern support? The shop stocks pattern lines from the majority of its brands, and also a few books, usually stocked close to the yarn itself. Ask if you’re looking for a specific pattern type, or simply enjoy browsing through the different offerings. The store also offers a plethora of free patterns from various companies, some stocked near appropriate yarns and others showcased in the front of the store.
